  • The importance of applying the concepts of joint field operations has come as a result of previous cumulative experiences in dealing with various incidents, the most prominent of which is the Amman hotel bombings that the Kingdom witnessed in 2005, which emphasized the importance of a common structure between the various public security units on the one hand, and the integration of various other security agencies, On the other hand, this environment provides a unified vision of the field situation and enables joint, consistent decisions to be taken to ensure the best results and the least losses.
    On June 9, 2009, His Majesty, King Abdullah II, Ibn Al-Hussein, inaugurated the Command and Control Center to be a core for developing response capabilities and providing a unified and consistent vision of the field situation.
    On 6/27/2018, and as part of the Public Security Directorate’s plan to restructure some of the Public
  • Security units, the Operations Department, the Command and Control Center, the Public Security Directorate camp, and the Field Duties Unit were merged in a new department under the name (Operations and Control Department), where the merger aimed to standardize operational procedures and Develop plans to monitor the implementation of operations orders and plans by taking advantage of the technology available in this field.
    On 6/12/2019, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and the General Directorate of Gendarmerie
  • Forces were merged in the Public Security Directorate to ensure deepening professional security coordination and improving the services provided, which resulted in amending the name of the department to become the Directorate of Operations and Control.
    On 5/6/2020, in line with developments in various fields (communications and information technology,
  • operations and control, field operations, ...) in order to achieve excellence in managing police and security operations for daily and emergency events in the Kingdom efficiently and effectively, the organizational structure was reviewed and developed as the Directorate of Operations and Control included (Crisis Management Cell, Drones Unit).
