Operations department

On April 15, 1969, the Operations Department was formed and followed to the Operations Assistant. The Department went through the following formation stages:

  • On January 18, 1991, the organizational structure of the Operations Department and Facilities Security was amended and became the Operations Department
  • On February 5, 1994, the Directorate's camp section was separated from the organizational structure of the Operations Department, to become the Public Security Directorate's camp command (independent budget).
  • On April 12, 1994, the National Assembly Guard Unit was separated from the organizational structure of the Operations Department and followed to the Public Security Directorate Camp Command.
  • On October 18, 1995, the Command and Control Department was separated from the organizational structure of the Operations Department and followed to the Communications Department.
  • On August 23, 1997, the Police Discipline Unit was seperated from the organizational structure of the Operations Department, to become an independent unit followed to the Human Resources Assistant.
  • On January 17, 2000, the General Control Branch in the Operations Department was seperated from the organizational structure of the Operations Department, and the Command and Control Center was created to become separate from the Operations Department.
  • On May 4, 2003, and in line with the policy of the Public Security Directorate to restructure the units to suit the developments of the times, a budget and a new structure for the Operations Department were adopted, whereby the position of Deputy Director of Operations was abolished, and the Public Security Directorate camp leadership was followed to the Operations Department, and a position was created for a division chief with the rank of colonel
  • On March 1, 2004, a third division was created under the name (Division of Plans and Readiness) and renamed the Division of Operations Management and its followed  departments to become as follows:
  1. Operations and Control Division / Operations Department and Control Department follow it.
  2. Division of Plans and Readiness / followed to the Department of Plans and the Department of Readiness and Training.
  3. Peace and Security Division / Facility Security Department and Peacekeeping Forces Division follow it.
  4. Administration and Human Resources Branch.
  5. On March 1, 2009, the organizational structure of the Operations Department was amended and the divisions of the Operations Department and its followed  sections were renamed as follows:
  6. Operations section : The Operations Department and the Control section follow it.
  7. The Security Readiness Division / the Plans Department, the Readiness and Exercises Division follow it.
  8. Facilities Security Division / Facilities Security Division, Explosives Security Division, and Special Protection Companies Division follow it.
  9. The Department of management  and Human Resources connected  to the Director of Operations Department.
