Operational and Administrative Achievements of the Institute

 

  • Success in changing the concept of corrective work (humanism) and modifying the attitudes towards personnel ies towards inmates.
  • Success in clarifying the objectives of penal institutions for workers in reform and rehabilitation centers, which is to bring the inmate into society as a fit and qualified person, and to help him reintegrate into society after his release.
  • Success in consolidating the rules of respect for human rights in the personnel of reform and rehabilitation centers and preventing torture and non-abuse of inmates, which had a significant impact in reducing the number of complaints submitted by inmates.
  • Participation with the Ministry of Justice in a series of workshops, seminars and meetings to address some obstacles in the field of reform such as (overcrowding, alternative penalties, rehabilitation, reducing the number of convicts and detainees, reducing the rate of recidivism and electronic connectivity).
  • Holding workshops and courses for workers in the health field in correctional centers (doctors, nurses) to familiarize them with the nature of work and the duties entrusted to them in order to provide comprehensive health care services to the inmates and make recommendations to the concerned authorities to achieve this, as the inmate now gets a free comprehensive health insurance.
  • Work to standardize work procedures in reform and rehabilitation centers by preparing a procedural work guide and distributing it to all centers to work accordingly.
  • Preparing studies and research on the rehabilitation of the released by involving them in aftercare programs and sparing them what is called the shock of release.
  • Preparing a classification model in accordance with modern international standards that meets the special needs of correction and rehabilitation centers in terms of classifying inmates for the purposes of accommodation and another for the purposes of market inmates outside the centers, and setting special instructions and policies for that.
  • Training and developing a specialized team of police women to work as a rapid response team equipped for the Women's Reform and Rehabilitation Center in cooperation with the Jordanian International Center for Police Training.

In the year 2010 AD, the institute presented the Prince Hassan Award for Scientific and Academic Excellence, which was established in 1995 AD to encourage educational, scientific and technological activities in the institutions concerned with education and training and in support of the scientific movement and appreciation for it, as it adopts for awarding this award the criterion of contribution through distinguished academic specifications in economic, social and cultural life And the development of successful and important methodological and extracurricular programmes, as the Institute advanced among (28) government and private departments, and an arbitration committee consisting of a number of Jordanian university and institute professors evaluated and studied the Institute’s participation, and the Institute was visited and a number of reform and rehabilitation centers in which the Training Institute had a great impact on Developing the work environment in it, and on 12/4/2010 AD, the Training and Development Institute won the first place jointly with the Civil Defense Training Center.

Achievements in the field of training, rehabilitation and development:

  • Training personnel for management of correction and rehabilitation centers and police directorates.
  • A course for preparing lecturers for psychological and social counselors (TOT) was held in cooperation with the European Union in Amman / Kempinski Hotel.
  • Designing and implementing courses specialized in correctional work and developing the necessary curricula for these courses, taking into account the correctional training needs and their differences from the police ones that are given in public security training institutes.
  • Developing future plans for training and putting forward proposals for training curricula for courses to be held in the future.
  • Developing an objective (modern) scientific classification model and applying it through holding specialized courses in classification, where a number of specialized courses were graduated from the personnel ies of the centers and civilians were recruited with degrees in sociology and psychology to apply the classification on modern foundations in the centers to which they will be distributed .
  • Preparing policies and developing comprehensive procedures for all operations of managing the centers and their employees, and containing work mechanisms and a detailed job description for each duty within the repair centers.
  • Preparing all training programs and curricula, which include all categories of workers, according to international standards and legislation, and working to develop them continuously, according to the rules.
  • In the year 2008 AD, the institute started holding courses to prepare workers for the personnel ies of reform and rehabilitation centers and the personnel ies that are intended to be transferred to work in these institutions.
  • The Institute has established a comprehensive database of all curricula related to courses (theoretical and practical) that are held at the Institute, by obtaining the best curricula and programs in force in developed countries.
  • Developing training methods with a focus on linking the theoretical aspects with the practical aspects by photographing the hypotheses necessary to develop the work within the reform and rehabilitation centers and documenting these hypotheses on compact discs (CD) according to academic and technical educational foundations with high skill and efficiency to be distributed to the reform and rehabilitation centers and used in The training process within the training institute.
  • Developing the mechanism of writing reports and controls in force in correction and rehabilitation centers and preparing them in a practical way to facilitate their application on the ground.
  • Holding a specialized session (to activate the role of social researchers in reform and rehabilitation centers) and preparing the course curriculum.
  • Holding a specialized course in the use of force, definition of equipment, and how to write reports and seizures.
  • Holding an awareness session for the workers in the cell and the people of temporary detention sections for the workers in the police directorates and security centers
  • A course for female workers was recently held in correction and rehabilitation centers, especially the Women's Correction and Rehabilitation Centre.
