First: Awareness campaigns

16 Days Campaign to Combat Violence against Women 2021

 Public Security Directorate, represented by the Mass Media and Community policing directorate  and the Family and Juvenile Protection Department, participated in a 16-day campaign to combat violence against women from 25th of November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10th of December (International Human Rights Day). The campaign included a series of awareness and educational activities for various societal groups about the nature of violence and the factors leading to it, in addition to its effects.

The Department of Family and Juveniles Protection and also have participated in the advertising and media awareness campaign of the United States Agency for International Development as part of the annual international "16 Days of Resisting Violence against Women" campaign, which began on 5th of December 2021 to target various types of violence against all segments of society, including women and children and youth in streets, at home, at school and in the workplace, with the aim of urging society to reject violence in all its forms and to seek to end it, by highlighting the societal discourse that justifies and tolerates violence.

 The Corona pandemic had a direct impact on the rates of implementation of the Department’s awareness campaigns, especially those depend on direct contact in their implementation, which prompted the Family and Juvenile Protection Department to adopt awareness and education forms and mechanisms that ensure the continuation of the implementation of the awareness plan, taking into account the lack of direct contact in order to preserve health and safety such as broadcasting the awareness messages through social media and audio-visual media.

 Jordan participated in the global campaign "16 days" to combat gender-based violence under the title "We are with you", which was launched by the National Team for the Protection of the Family from Violence in cooperation with the National Council for Family Affairs, Public Security Directorate, the European Union and the Anti-Violence Against Women Network "Shamaa".  The campaign included a series of activities on the protection from violence, and aimed to raise the level of education of citizens about the forms of domestic violence and its consequences, and to raise awareness of the law on protection from domestic violence, the mechanisms for reporting it, and the services provided  by the Public Security Directorate to prevent and respond to domestic violence.

 

 

 

Second: Awareness lectures

 - Awareness lectures about domestic violence and gender-based violence for school and university students and civil and governmental institutions.

- Awareness lectures about juvenile delinquency, methods of prevention and its consequences for school and university students and civil and governmental institutions.

 - Awareness lectures about cyber bullying for school and university students and civil and governmental institutions.

 - Awareness lectures about legal guarantees for juveniles for students of schools, universities, and civil and governmental institutions.
