First, information technology:

In 1983, the Computer Department was established, where the first central computer system was installed, and due to the overlapping of competence, the Computer Department was included within the Communications Department in the year (1994), and after that, the Computer Department was separated from the Communications Department in 1996, and in line with The rapid development in the field of information technology, it has launched many systems that contributed to raising the level of performance of all components of public security as follows:

  • Administrative systems (electronic messaging system, manpower systems, archiving system, follow-up and inspection system, vehicle tracking system, video dialogue system).
  • Financial systems.
  • Traffic regulations (such as a violation system and the operating systems of the traffic departments, the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department, the Traffic Department, and the highway Department).
  • Control and residence systems (the developed residence system, the bridge security system, the establishment of an electronic gate (E-Gate) and the Syrian refugee system).

 Secondly, communications:

The Command and Control Project (Phase I) was launched in 1987.

The traditional wireless communication system (CONVENTIONAL) was implemented, and with the development of communication systems, optical fiber systems were applicable in the year (1989) and in the year (1990) this network was developed by introducing a microwave system.

Correction and rehabilitation centers have been given special importance by developing various communication systems by providing inmates contact with their families, and providing visitation booths for inmates.

In (2009) the participatory communication system was launched in cooperation with the armed forces in (2009)

Establishing Public Security Radio in (2009).

The DMR system has been launched in (2016)

 

 Third, electronic equipment:

Public security directorate  decided to include the electronic equipment operator in the Communications and Information Technology Department after it was followed with the Maintenance Department, due to the presence of terms of reference that overlap with the work of the Communications Department.

Electronic protection systems (TV surveillance systems, security fence systems, electronic door systems, fire alarm systems, calling systems and television broadcasting) in various public security departments.

Work has been done with the Greater Amman Municipality to install and operate mobile radar systems on cars on streets, to develop, update and maintain the work of portable radar devices for use by the Traffic Department and the Department of highway patrols, to develop, update and maintain the work of inspection devices, people inspection devices, and portable manual inspection devices for border crossings and Correction and rehabilitation centers.
