The Director of Public Security, Major General Dr. AbeidAllah Maaitah, launched the strategic plan of the Public Security Directorate for the years (2024-2026), within several axes and a set of executive plans, which were recently completed.

Through these objectives, the strategy aims to translate and implement public security duties and improve them according to a scientific approach that ensures their implementation with the highest levels of professionalism, capability and efficiency, with the optimal use of available resources and capabilities.

The strategy included all aspects of police and security work and the civil protection system, taking into account security changes and developments, the development of crime, and the expansion of the directorate’s tasks and duties and the services provided to the citizen through its various formations and departments.

The Director of Public Security said that the adoption of the strategic plan and its launch today came as a translation of the Royal directives by His Majesty, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, King Abdullah II, and in accordance with the message of the Royal Commission to the Director of Public Security to develop performance, improve services, and preserve security, lives and property, so that Jordan will always remain an oasis of security and stability.

Major General Al-Maaitah added that the strategic plan was the result of systematic team effort and work and extensive study of the reality of police work and the civil protection system entrusted to the Civil Defense, identifying the negatives and positives, analyzing them, and determining future needs and aspirations during the next three years, to achieve one main goal, which is to raise the level of performance and improve the service provided.

The Director of Public Security indicated that the strategy was based on five main institutional objectives:  to reduce crime, contribute to reducing the drug-dealing activities , contribute to enhancing traffic safety and road security, effective response to emergencies and disasters, and sustainable development of the public security system in accordance with the highest international standards, thus including aspects of the work of the Public Security Directorate with all its formations and units.

Major General Al-Maaitah stressed the constant endeavor to advance all public security formations and units to carry out their tasks and the various duties entrusted to them efficiently and competently.

Al-Maaitah stressed the necessity of translating the strategic goals according to the established executive and operational plans, following up on their implementation according to a specific supervisory and analytical system, and measuring performance indicators to ensure their success.

Major General Al- Maaitah indicated to the advanced levels in various police and security fields and civil protection systems, and that maintaining this achievement and adding to it requires us to constantly seek for development and modernization according to a clear-cut methodology and strategy with specific goals, which is what we aspire to through our plan for the years 2024. -2026.

The Director of Public Security was briefed by the Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Department, during which he explained the methodology for preparing the strategic plan, the stages of its preparation, and the mechanism for its follow-up and evaluation.
