  PSD director: a decrease in traffic accidents and serious violations since the implementation of the new law

The Director of Public Security, Major General Dr. AbeidAllah Maaitah, stressed the necessity of step up with the implementation of the traffic strategy aimed at enhancing a safe traffic environment, evaluating its plans and procedures, and developing the necessary solutions for traffic jam.

During his visit today to the Traffic Department, Major General Al-Maaitah conveyed the greetings  of His Majesty King Abdullah II, Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, and His Majesty’s pride in the personnel  of Public Security and the Traffic Department as a whole, praising their efforts, especially their provision of aid and assistance to citizens and providing them with a safe traffic environment around the clock.

Major General Al-Maaitah added that, since the new traffic law came into effect, PSD has begun to notice a decrease in the number of traffic accidents and traffic violations, especially dangerous ones of various types and forms, as they have witnessed a significant decline in recent months in all regions of the Kingdom, directed at measuring that impact scientifically and according to a scientific and comparative study to determine the traffic situation and address any negatives revealed by the study and work to correct them.

Major General Al-Maaitah stressed the continued enforcement of the traffic law on all to move forward in implementing the traffic strategy aimed at reducing accidents and traffic violations in order to protect lives.

The Director of Public Security highlighted the importance of taking advantage of modern technology to enhance the traffic work system, by intensifying traffic control in various streets of the Kingdom, especially vital areas that witness heavy traffic movement , stressing that Public Security Directorate will provide the necessary support to all traffic departments and provide them with human and logistical resources to modernize its systems, develop the procedures applied in it in continuous cooperation and coordination with all partners in the traffic process.

Major General Al-Maaytah was briefed  by the Director of the Traffic Department on the most important operational, legal and training issues aimed at raising the readiness of staff-members in the department, ensuring the provision of a safe traffic environment on the roads, and preserving the security and safety of citizens.
