Bassam Al-Sarhan the launch of Communication service (114) in the command and control center to include all communication companies in the Public Security Directorate.
His Highness expressed his pride in this national achievement, which will contribute to strengthening the system of independent living for people with hearing disabilities, expressing his thanks and appreciation to all parties that contributed to the development of the application.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the telecommunications companies Zain, Orange, Umniah and the modern global company for the development of communications programs, as well as representatives of a number of associations of people with hearing disabilities / deafness.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said that the launch of this application today came as a result of the participatory efforts made by the partners to enhance national action and social responsibility and reach out to all segments of society, and provide them with the necessary services, including the deaf, who today had the opportunity to make free video calls in their own language.
Al-Sarhan added that this achievement is a translation and implementation of the visions and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, on the necessity of integrating people with disabilities and overcoming all obstacles in front of them which It is a good example of constructive cooperation between the public and private sectors.
For his part, the Director of Operations and control , Brigadier General Nourz Hakuz, confirmed that the launch of this application is in partnership with the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, communication companies (Zain, Orange, Umniah) and the global modern company for the development of communications programs - Globitel and Public Security Directorate comes from the belief in the importance of strengthening the fields of cooperation with various governmental and civil society institutions, in a way that reflects positively on providing optimal services to citizens of all categories in various fields of life.
Stressing that the launch of this service constitutes one of the frameworks of the existing strategic partnership between the Public Security Directorate, the Supreme Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, to implement a number of innovative projects and initiatives aimed at empowering persons with disabilities and providing them with services.
He added that this application enabled deaf people to make free video calls with the salaries of the Public Security Directorate in sign language to communicate with them easily and smoothly, and in emergency cases.
It is noteworthy that the Public Security Directorate and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities signed a memorandum of understanding since 2014 to develop the emergency line 114 for deaf persons and to train and qualify Public Security Directorate cadres on sign language, based on the role of the Public Security Directorate towards empowering persons with disabilities
