Today, the activities of the first regional meeting of leaders of correction institutions and prisons in the Middle East was opened in the presence of the Assistant Director of Public Security for the Judiciary, Brigadier General Mohammad Tbeishat, and the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Amman, Sarah Avriloud.

This meeting, which is held by the Public Security Directorate in cooperation and partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Kingdom, is a continuation of the implementation of programs, projects and workshops that serve the achievement of common goals, in continuing to care for inmates in the correction and rehabilitation centers and targeting them with comprehensive reform programs within a pattern based on adherence to the rule of law and charters of respect for human rights.

The conference will include a series of discussions and workshops that will be implemented successively to benefit from the mutual information and use it in promoting related joint humanitarian projects, achieving the desired goals in promoting best practices at departments of correction and rehabilitation centers, and exchanging experiences in this field.

Participants in the conference talked about the most prominent challenges facing correction institutions in the world, such as the provision of health care, infrastructure, living conditions, legislation, training needs, etc., which necessitates the use of effective management practices to overcome these challenges, and the promotion of professional practices in accordance with international standards and humanitarian principles.
