The Royal Department for Environment and Tourism Protection, in cooperation with the competent authorities, launched today the activities of the "Environmental and Tourism Day" in various governorates of the Kingdom, with the participation of school students, as part of the national campaign to protect the environment "Our Environment is Our Lung" and within the efforts of the Public Security Directorate to preserve the environment and nature and enhance their sustainability.

   The launch of this environmental day comes to emphasize the important role played by the Royal Department for environment and Tourism Protection  in the field of protecting natural resources and tourist sites in Jordan and maintaining their cleanliness, given the importance of the environmental and tourism sector in supporting the national economy and promoting development, attracting investment and stimulating movement Tourist.

The activities of the Environmental Day, in which the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Tourism Promotion Authority, the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, and the Food and Drug General Corporation, in addition to a number of public security units, distributed environmental awareness brochures to citizens, and held awareness lectures related to environmental awareness, and conducted cleaning tours that included Dibeen Forest Reserve, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Al Wala Dam, Jabal Al Qalaa, Al Karak Castle and the Aqaba Bird Observatory.

Drinkable  water in water tanks was examined and food items in school canteens were inspected, in addition to civil defense personnel  sterilizing schools and conducting practical drills for students about first aid.
